Motivation can be described as the state of mind which filled with enthusiasm and energy (Abyad, 2018). It drives an individual to work in a particular manner so as to achieve the desired goals. It is a force that pushes a person to work with high commitment levels and maintain focus even when things are tough. It ultimately translates to a particular behavior. It is important to ensure motivation is paramount in every team member. Several motivation theories came up to give different views of motivation by different psychologists. It gives us a deeper insight of how people tend to behave and their motivating factors.

My choice of country is China. I selected this country because it is well known for motivating its population in all its fields including education and even in the work environment. In China’s education system for instance, it is advisable to motivate a student even when they fail by not giving them a lower percentage on the paper but suggesting a correct answer. At work as well, this is applied as they prefer rewards for milestones achieved.

The choice of theory in this case is the Vroom’s theory of expectancy. This theory states that people are likely to be highly motivated and productive if the following conditions are met: i. They have the belief that success is what will come from their efforts ii. They believe their success will lead to a reward (Vroom, 2005). This is very effective in this country as it is already part of their norm thus efficient in the long run in achieving service delivery and organizational goals.

There are several motivational techniques that a manager can use in the workplace. I would prefer offering personal enrichment programs. Creating this program would mean that I can send employees to seminars and workshops where they can be able to improve their skills. This will enable an organization to gain from the knowledge achieved at the workshops and the employees will also be able to enrich their knowledge.

Conclusion

Motivation is the state of the mind which relentlessly pushes human beings to perform tasks with positivity and the highest spirit. A leader thus needs to ensure every organizational member is motivated. The organizational theories help in understanding what motivates people. Managers can select the type of motivation they would wish to put in place at the organization to keep the employees motivated.
