Managers in the round-the-clock, non-stop global world are faced with the challenge of meeting the needs of tomorrow’s world by ensuring that they remain relevant and profitable. One strategy from the “Moon Shot’s” article that I believe best represents an important direction for management in a round-the-clock, nonstop global world is ensuring that management’s work serves a high purpose. In the nonstop global world, companies struggle to deal with various business issues including cultural diversity, strict environmental laws, rising energy costs, and threat of increasing competition, among others. These issues do not exist in isolation because failure to meet any one of them makes an organization unfit to continue existing in the global world. Furthermore, the issues that companies in the nonstop global world are struggling to deal with are intended to promote environmental development. To effectively handle all these issues, future management is expected to have a comprehensive understanding of the logics of business industry (Hamel, 2009).

Moreover, future management must focus on addressing diversity issues as well as the complexities behind their industries. Globalization has greatly changed the image of today’s organizations. Today’s management must be prepared to look at the word as a whole and focus on strategies that ensure success across borders such as ensuring that the work of management seeks to achieve noble and socially significant goals. Most companies work hard to ensure that their maximize wealth for their stakeholders, yet this is a completely inadequate goal for surviving in a round-the-clock, nonstop global world. This makes people to doubt the legitimacy of corporate power, a factor that should not exist in the global world. Therefore, in order to create a better world in future, companies must ensure that the work of management does not only serve to maximize profits, but also to ensure that a company’s operations are socially significant (Hamel, 2009).

Significance of the strategy

Organizations that ensure that the work of management serves a high purpose are adequately prepared for changes underway. First, these organizations are prepared to focus on change and leadership. The change management strategy in a personal characteristic, but a complete dedication towards achieving a noble goal (Christiansen and Sezerel, 2013). According to Christiansen and Sezerel (2013), twenty-first century organizations must be prepared to achieve socially significant and noble goals. Second, by ensuring that the management serves a higher purpose, these organizations are in a good position to explore various opportunities that will allow it to meet the needs of the future global world. According to Hamel (2009), modern organizations should look at the world around them and at the same time strive to abide by their environmental laws. The strategy helps them to tailor their actions to the cultural and social contexts of the future global world. A new strategy for management allows these organizations to adjust their activities to the needs of management and to be a self-reliant entity that ensures global interdependence with other companies in the industry. Eventually, they manage to take the necessary actions that will enable them meet the global challenge in future.
