Strategy Decisions, Alignment, and Change
BlackBerry Limited is one of the companies that highlights the importance of having a clear vision and implementing effective change management strategies to align the vision with any changes in the market. BlackBerry Limited, previously referred to as Research in Motion, is Canadian multinational company that provides enterprise software and internet of things. The company initially developed BlackBerry phones and tablets. In 2013, BlackBerry transitioned to become an enterprise and software and services company under the leadership of the John S. Chen, who is still the CEO of the company.
The current vision of BlackBerry Limited is “Securing a connected future you can trust.” As the change leader of the company, I would strive to improve the popularity of the company’s products. Prior to the launch of Apple’s iPhone, BlackBerry had the largest share of the smartphone market in the U.S (Cawsey, Deszca, & Ingols, 2020). Therefore, I would strive to ensure the company’s products are market leaders in their respective segments.
The vision statement for the change I would be striving to achieve would be “Ensuring out company’s digital solutions are available to every person and every organization across the globe for a fully connected world.” This would require the company to product various products for the mass market. This would conform to the principles of change within the organization. It would also strengthen the values of change within the organization. Providing innovative products for the mass market would help in improving the company’s revenues. It would ensure it returns to its rightful position in the global technology landscape (Eisner, et al., 2018).
In conclusion, security, trust, and innovation are the most important values of BlackBerry Limited. The change should conform to these values. Failure to ensure the change aligns to these values would make the implementation of the change weaken the strategic position of the company.
