TASK THREE

TASK TWO

Reflecting on the logical data warehouse you designed in Assignment 2 Task 2 you should now consider how you will ensure the governance of this data warehouse which will include unstructured big data. Your discussion should focus on the controls that you would put in place to ensure that there is an appropriate level of security and privacy for the information captured, stored and retrieved for decision making when using the proposed data warehouse.

Having a good governance of data house is very important because it ensures clear management and not forgetting good decision making of the same. When coming up with the solution for data governance, some of the very first steps would be clearly establishing the owner of the data. There should be policy which defines who is responsible for the important data aspects which includes:

Data accuracy

Data accessibility

Data consistency

Data completeness

And data updating processes

There should be clear guidelines outlining how data is to be:

Stored

Retrieved

Backed up

And protecting from attack or access to unauthorized people

There should be set of algorithm or procedure set to ensure that the data is secure. It’s important to note that when you are designing your data warehouse ensures that security has been given the very first priority. So it’s important to implement data security from the very first step. Before loading any data from your source to the ware house there are some factor ones need to consider like;

a) How sensitive is your data. Sensitive data is data that must be protected from being accessed by unauthorized party to protect the privacy/security of an individual or organization. Sensitive data are very crucial and should be handed with care because when they fall on bad hand great harm can be caused. Take for example data about financial information of somebody or a group when unauthorized person have access to it may use the information to steal.

b) What measures do you have over who is or to access this data? One must have clear control of the same.

c) As the time goes new risk and threats may arise. Do you have clear strategy and plan for managing the same?

Some of the safety measures to ensure that your data ware house is secure may include the following;

Where is your data stored? It would be difficult to secure something you don’t know it where about. The very initial step in securing your data ware house is to know where your data does exist and then from there the other measure follows.

Take control of your data and avoid data leakage. This prevent data breaches

Ensure data integrity be ensuring no unauthorized changes is to be done to the data. Keep your configuration files save and the logs.

Protect privacy by not disclosing sensitive data through masking.

Ensure continuous monitoring to the data. in fact data ware house require real time monitoring to ensure that data access is monitored and precaution is taken if the data was accessed by unauthorized party

Develop a system with end users that illustrate who has access to what levels of the data

Never use live or real data for testing purposes too often test environments are left wide open and accessible to too many individuals.

b) Discus some of the key ethical concerns for the day to day use of a data warehouse given that increasingly some decision making might become machine-to-machine automated decision making in response to events in a workflow. Identify ways in which governments and legislation is keeping pace with this phenomena of big data and data driven decision making and the lessening of human intervention in this process (about 500 words).

Ethical concern has become a very big issue in the modern life. The use of ware house in most cases fails to observe ethical issue. Peoples confidential information’s are being shared online behinds their back.

The big problem about ethical issue when it comes to data ware housing is that it is very difficult to maintain balance, control and security to our day to day growing data sets. It is each and every

Person to examine the ethical conse1quences over the decision we make through use of the information .Equally the same we have to consider the strength or the quality of the data we are basing our decision on .wrong data may do harm than it can benefit. some of the ethical issues are.

Privacy breaches and embarrassments. Many organizations take action when analyzing big data, this task may breach the privacy and confidentiality of the involved party. This could lead to great harm to those people like embarrassments and loss of job and lowering their self esteem

Anonymization could become impossible.

With a lot of data it could be difficult to remove the ability to establish the individual if there is no rule set to deal with anonymazed data file. There should be a rule explaining how anonymized data file can be used put together and use together.

Data masking could be defeated to reveal personal information.

Fails to masking the data effectively could reveal the actual individual whose data has been masked. This could pause a lot of risk to the involved party. Organizations should ensure that the data masking is done to the perfection.

Unethical actions based on interpretations.

Data housing analytic may be used to influence behavior. Its should be noted that there are lot of issue involving driving behavior. Big data analytic can be used by organization or individuals to variety of decision that do not put into consideration of human life involved.

Big data analytics are not 100% accurate.

In real life I don think there is something which is 100% accurate and soon is our data. It is not big deal to find that the data files containing inaccurate data about organization or individuals. This could lead to organization or individuals making wrong decisions and taking wrong actions

Ways in which governments and legislation are keeping pace with this phenomena of big data and data driven decision making and the lessening of human intervention in this process

Government is set to ensure well being of each and every .when it tome to ethical issues on data ware housing the government should not be left out in ensuring safety of the same.

Basing on the ethical issue discussed above, the government should be in a position to make the data house management give ethical issue first priority.

The government should remind the involved parties that any effort made are still subject to government laws.
